3D Shibori Forms.

Shibori technique is highly technical, but also somewhat unpredictable, and it is this fickle nature which absorbs Kate. She creates three dimensional forms using crisp silk organza by stitching evenly spaced lines pulled up tightly and dyed in a hot dye bath. Once the stitches are removed, the fabric remains manipulated into strange organic shapes. Where the tightly folded fabric has resisted the absorption of the dye, the colours beneath are revealed.

Unfolding.

Once the fabric is completely dry and all the stitches are removed, the fabric can be opened out to reveal its hidden colours.
